Drug pusher killed, cop wounded in Rizal buy-bust operation


A notorious drug pusher was killed and a police officer was wounded in a shootout during a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Andres, Cainta, Rizal on Wednesday, March 12.

Police authorities identified the suspect as “Michael.”

Cainta Municipal Police operatives reported that Michael shot Police Cpl. Mark Abagon, who posed as a poseur-buyer. Abagon is now recovering from his wounds.

The shootout happened around 2 a.m. during the buy-bust operation against another suspect identified as “Diether."

During the entrapment operation, Michael discovered that Abagon is a policeman, prompting him to pull out his pistol and shoot Abagon. Policemen fired back, killing Michael instantly.

Three more drug suspects were nabbed after being spotted in the area.

Police recovered 28 grams of shabu worth P191,000 from the arrested suspects, and the .45-caliber pistol used by Michael during the shootout.

The apprehended drug pushers are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). (Vincent Brian Gutierrez)
