Criminal gang member, pal nabbed in QC

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced the arrest of an alleged member of the "Cinco" criminal gang and his companion during an anti-criminality operation in Cubao, Quezon City on Friday, March 21.

Police identified the suspects as gang member John Mark Pilapil and his companion identified as Mark Ace Halili.

They were nabbed on Aurora Boulevard near Mangga Street in Barangay Kaunlaran, Cubao Quezon City at about 10:45 a.m..

Operatives from Cubao Police Station (PS 7) caught the suspects engaging in an illegal gambling called "cara y cruz".

Police recovered from the suspects an improvised handgun, a live ammunition for .45-caliber gun, and cash.

Investigators later found out that Pilapil had cases of robbery in July 2016 and August 2022, and violations of anti-illegal gambling and firearms laws in October 2023 and December 2024.

Halili also had an illegal gambling case in December 2023.

The suspects will be charged for violation of P.D. 1602 (Anti-Illegal Gambling Law). Pilapil faces additional charges for violating R.A. 10591 (The Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and B.P. 881 (Omnibus Election Code). (Jhoana Mae Delfin)
