Pasay City holds 'Unity Walk and Peace Covenant Signing' for honest, peaceful 2025 polls

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano led the Unity Walk and Peace Covenant Signing to ensure the clean, honest, accurate, meaningful, and peaceful (CHAMP) conduct of the upcoming National and Local Elections (NLE) in May.

The symbolic Unity Walk started along Seashell Drive and proceeded to the Shrine of Jesus in Central Business Park, Coral Way, Barangay 76, where a Mass was held and presided over by Rev. Fr. Danilo A. Canceran.

The mayor said the event was attended by political candidates and their supporters; Willand Rapanut, acting election officer for District 1; Atty. Alvin Jan Tugas, Pasay City election officer IV for District 2; and Sister Milagros Bayona, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) Pasay district coordinator.

Also present were personnel from the Pasay City Police led by De Sesto, as well as representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Pasay Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and the Philippine Coast Guard.

Rubiano said the local police vowed to remain apolitical, emphasizing that they will not take sides with any candidate throughout the election period.

She added that De Sesto reiterated the police force’s commitment to maintaining peace and order, emphasizing their mission to protect the security and welfare of all Pasay residents.
