The designation was contained in a memorandum from the Police Regional Office-9 dated March 20.

Fortaleza replaced Police Col. Kimberly Molitas.

The Zamboanga City Police Office confirmed the appointment in a statement released over the weekend.

“With his extensive experience in law enforcement and strong leadership qualities, Fortaleza is set to lead the ZCPO into a new era of service and commitment to the safety and security of the people of Zamboanga,” the ZCPO said.

The ZCPO thanked Molitas “for her unwavering dedication and passionate service to the city of Zamboanga.”

Fortaleza said he intends to build upon the foundation laid by his predecessor and continue the ZCPO’s mission of ensuring peace and order in the city.

“The Zamboanga City Police Office welcomes Fortaleza with open arms and looks forward to working together to achieve a safer, more secure community for all residents of Zamboanga,” the ZCPO said.

Fortaleza’s designation was approved by the Commission on Elections.
