SANTA ROSA CITY, Laguna--The Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate is poised to take advantage of the upcoming start of the local campaign period by linking up with coalition partners at the local level.

This was shared by Alyansa campaign manager Navotas City lone district Rep. Toby Tiangco during a press conference here in the vote-rich province on Saturday, March 22.

According to Tiangco, the coalition is finalizing plans to align national sorties with local campaign schedules, particularly in areas where they have allied candidates.

“Since mag-start na ‘yung local campaign, kanina we are discussing it with our candidates at marami po silang imbitasyon sa local rally. Siyempre kung ka-Alyansa nila ‘yun, they will have to fit it in to their schedule,” Tiangco said.

(Since the local campaign will be starting soon, we are discussing it with our candidates and they have a lot of invites to local rallies. Of course, if it's with a fellow Alyansa bet, they will have to fit it in to their schedule.)

He said the coalition will meet again before March 28 to balance national sorties with local engagements.

“Sayang naman, ‘di ba? Sila ay kapartido natin at syempre sila rin ay magtutulong sa ating mga kandidato upang ipaliwanag ang kanilang plataporma,” he said, referring to Alyansa’s local allies.

(It would be a waste not to take advantage of it, right? They're part of our coalition and of course they will help our candidates in explaining their platforms.)

Recognizing the importance of local outreach, Tiangco said that the grassroots nature of local campaigns is crucial.

When asked about Alyansa’s next campaign stops, Tiangco said: “As we have previously done, we always announce it only two weeks in advance for reasons na I hope you understand.”

Comprising the Alyansa slate are former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III; former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) secretary Benhur Abalos; former Senators Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao; Senators Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Imee Marcos, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Francis Tolentino; Makati City Mayor Abby Binay; House Deputy Speaker Las Piñas City lone district Rep. Camille Villar; and House Deputy Majority Leader ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo.
