Fire Officer 2 Joeman Alvarez, arson investigator of the Bago City Fire Station, said that the fire totally damaged four classrooms and a stock room.

The fire broke out at around 3:45 p.m. No pupils were inside the school because of half-day classes.

Fire out was declared an hour later. No injuries were reported.

Cause of the fire is yet to be established. Damage to property was placed at P3 million.

Since the structure is a government property, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-6 (Western Visayas) will take over the investigation, Alvarez said.

The affected area was cordoned for further investigation and would not hamper classes.

Alvarez said that the school was constructed in the 1960s and considered an old structure made of light materials.

Mayor Nicholas Yulo also responded to the fire.
