Buoyed by the confiscation of around P816 million worth of shabu, police forces in the Mimaropa have further stepped up the security in all entry and exit points in the region to ensure that no areas will be used as distribution or transshipment points for illegal drugs.
Police Brig. Gen. Roger L. Quesada, director of the Police Regional Office 4B, said the confiscation of 120 kilograms of illegal drugs at the Calapan Port on March 21 is also proof of strong coordination among law enforcement agencies.
The operation resulted in the arrest of a 43-year-old man from Iloilo City and the confiscation of two luggage containing 120 pieces of 120 sealed packages containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu with a street value of P816 million.
“This successful operation is a testament to the effectiveness of our intensified inter-agency collaboration. I have long advocated for a unified approach among law enforcement agencies in our fight against illegal drugs, particularly in strengthening port security—one of the most critical fronts in preventing drug smuggling in our AOR,” said Quesada.
Also seized were a white Toyota Camry, an Android phone, and a Montenegro Shipping Lines ticket, which will serve as evidence in the case.
Since January 1 this year, a total of 11o illegal drugs personalities were arrested while 434.47 grams of shabu were seized in MImaropa—Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.
“Let this serve as a strong and clear message—there is no safe passage for illegal drugs in MIMAROPA. We will continue to intensify our operations and hold accountable those who seek to destroy our communities,” said Quesada.
