Young arts run free

While the eight featured artists all fall under 30 years of age; there’s a refreshing maturity, confidence, and freedom exhibited in their pieces, and it augurs well for the near future of the Philippine art landscape.

Angelo Quintos, Jeosh, J.A.R., Jay Duavit, MacJ Turla, Obags, Sean Go, and Taichi Kondo may not even know each other; but as a ‘community’, they’ve made a strong statement about their respective artistic visions. The enthusiasm and joy of the first-day guests and audience was palpable throughout the evening, and it was nice to watch the artists humbly bask in the admiration.

Anton Reyes (J. A. R.) is a good friend of my middle son, Matteo; and he now lives in Berlin, attached to an art collective. So it was good to have him here for the exhibit’s opening, before flying back to Europe. Drop by the Corinthian Plaza showroom in Makati to get an eyeful of these artists’ works - and start collecting their pieces. They’re quite diverse, and it should be easy to gravitate towards one of the artists.
