The World Boxing Council (WBC) has ordered a title eliminator fight between junior lightweight contenders Eduardo Hernandez and Filipino fighter Mark Magsayo.

The letter dated March 10 was sent to the respective promoters of Hernandez, Matchroom Boxing and Magsayo, MP Promotions and the two camps have until April 6 to reach an agreement.
In a report, MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons said that negotiations are underway with the fight, which will determine the challenger to reigning WBC world junior lightweight champion O’Shaquie Foster, being penciled around June and in the US.
Hernandez, the No.1 rated fighter, boasts an impressive 37-2 record with 32 knockouts, should come as a huge challenge for Magsayo, who has been undefeated in his three fights in the 130lbs division.
But the Mexican fighter is exactly what the pride of Tagbilaran City, Bohol needs to get back on top of the game.
“Mark Magsayo is too fast, too quick, too much power, boxes beautifully. Rocky Hernandez is a dangerous fighter, a puncher himself. I see it being a must-watch type of TV fight. It’s the type of fight that puts Mark right back on top of the game,” said Gibbons.
Magsayo, 27-2 (18KOs) is coming off a two-round knockout victory over Bryan Mercado last December.
