Steve Oh is championing the importance of living a healthy lifestyle by blending the Korean fitness culture with suited programs for local bodybuilders here in the country.

Not bad for a once shy and insecure kid who ultimately became a member of the South Korean Special Force and found his way to promoting wellness in this tropical country.
Oh opened Royal Fitness in Bonifacio Global City last March 2024, realizing his dream of building a premium gym despite the stressful paperworks and the hassle of bringing the equipment from South Korea.
“From the beginning, I was committed to introducing a premium fitness culture to the Philippines,” stressed Oh. “Royal Fitness is establishing itself as a premium fitness center. It’s not just a workout space—it’s a place that offers expert training and personalized programs.”
“Many of our members are preparing for competitions or working toward a healthier lifestyle,” added Oh, a Master Sergeant during his military days.
"At first, I did it for my own growth, but over time, I wanted to inspire and help others experience the same benefits, which naturally led me into the fitness industry.”
From last year, Oh has handled hundreds of clients, who improved not only physically, but also mentally, a development that continues to motivate the 40-year-old Korean who won multiple bodybuilding competitions on local and international stage.
“I've seen countless lives change through fitness. When people transform their bodies, they gain confidence, and their entire outlook on life improves,” Oh continued.
“Helping others experience that kind of transformation is what drives me every day.”
Then, why choose the Philippines?
Oh simply wanted to help Filipinos achieve their fitness goals and be recognized abroad.
“The fitness industry here is growing rapidly, but I noticed that there weren’t many places offering structured, professional training,” Oh said. “I wanted to bring Korean fitness culture to the Philippines."
Though he was unsatisfied about the nation’s numbers of facilities, Oh was impressed about the character of the Filipinos, noting they have a strong mindset with superb work ethic.
“Filipino bodybuilders have an incredible work ethic and strong mentality. They might have smaller frames, but their dedication and training intensity allow them to build impressive physiques,” Oh stressed. “More and more Filipino athletes are now competing in international competitions, which is exciting to see.”
And for Oh, wellness wasn’t all about exercise, it’s a life-long commitment that requires consistency, proper diet, setting clear goals, staying focused and enjoying the process – all are a must in order to achieve their fitness goals.
“I believe fitness isn’t just about exercise—it’s a life-changing journey. I want to continue helping more people live healthier, better lives,” Oh added.
