It’s been a family affair in the PBA finals for Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.

With his brother, Rahlir, already on the sidelines in the first few games of the TNT’s finals series against Ginebra -- even helping the Tropang Giga in practice, Hollis-Jefferson is set to have another family member watching from the sidelines on Game 4.

And she is someone close to his heart.

Hollis-Jefferson’s mother arrived from Philadelphia on Friday, March 21, just in time for the contest where he and the rest of the Tropang Giga eye a commanding 3-1 series lead.

“She will be coming from Philadelphia then San Fran(cisco) then San Fran to Manila. So it will be a long travel day and then another long travel day to Antipolo. We didn’t tell her that yet,” said Hollis-Jefferson before laughing.

“But I’m looking forward to having her here and just seeing me compete,” he added.

Hollis-Jefferson, though, highlighted how big it is for him to see someone close and familiar with him in the crowd while playing.

“Being able to see my brother in the crowd, looking at him, we don’t even have to say words, but we know what we’re saying,” Rondae said of Rahlir.

“I could tell by looking at his eyes, he is like, ‘Hey, just take (a) one dribble pull-up.’ I could tell he’s like, ‘Calm down.’ I know what he’s saying without (him) saying it. So it’s an amazing feeling to have him.”

And he’ll surely more of that with his mom finally being able to see him play for the first time overseas.

On top of that, she could also witness Hollis-Jefferson being awarded with his third Best Player of the Conference award.

“It will make the moment more special. It’s not about individual accolades. It’s about the team win. Because last year, I won it and we lost. So I would prefer to win the game,” said Hollis-Jefferson.
