House Assistant Majority Leader and Taguig 2nd district Rep. Pammy Zamora on Thursday, March 20, slammed former presidential spokesman Harry Roque for using former president Rodrigo Duterte's arrest to hide abroad and escape from his own case in the Philippines.

Zamora wondered why Roque was at The Hague if he wasn't even part of Duterte's legal team, as confirmed by impeached Vice President Sara Duterte.

"Tutal hindi ka naman pala magiging abogado ng dating Pangulo. Harry, umuwi ka na at harapin mo ang mga kaso mo dito sa ating bansa (Since you're not part of the former president's defense team, Harry, just go home and face your own cases)," Zamora said.

Roque is under House investigation for his alleged involvement in a qualified human trafficking complaint related to the raid conducted on a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) in Porac, Pampanga.

“Hindi mo matatakasan ang batas sa pamamagitan ng pagpunta sa ibang bansa (You cannot escape from the law by flying out of the country). Suddenly appearing out of hiding to join the ICC proceedings isn’t heroism—it’s pure political theater," Zamora said.

Out in the public eye for several months, Roque only resurfaced when he was seen in the Netherlands following the arrest of Duterte. He also announced his plans to seek political asylum there.

However, Zamora criticized the timing and authenticity of his move.

She said Roque's credibility was already undermined after he was cited for contempt by the House quad-committee (quad-comm) in September 2024 for repeatedly failing to submit several important documents on the POGO probe.

Zamora described Roque's attempt to seek asylum as a desperate attempt to evade accountability. She also dismissed Roque's claims of political persecution as baseless.
