A majority congresswoman has cited the key difference between the reelection campaigns of Senators Imee Marcos and Christopher "Bong" Go.

According to Iloilo 1st district Rep. Janette Garin, Go made the crystal clear choice to align hinmself with former president Rodrigo Duterte, while Senator Marcos appeared to be torn between Duterte and her brother, incumbent President Marcos.

Go is running for reelection under the Duterte-led Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban); while Senator Marcos, on paper, belongs to the administration-backed Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas.

For what it's worth, Go has typically landed in the top six (out of 12) of preferred senators based on pre-election surveys, while Senator has failed to crack the Magic 12 or the winners' circle.

"In this case siyempre lalo na’t kailangan mo pa ng kadagdagan na boto (In this case of course, especially since she needs additional votes), she cannot afford to lose the votes of the Duterte supporters," Garin said of the lady senator.

"Kailangan niya lang mag-desisyon (She just needs to make a decision)," Garin noted.

"Andyan naman si Senator Bong Go, nagde-desisyon. O wala siya sa Alyansa, kumakampanya siya dito kasama yung former president. So, alam niya kung ano yung direksiyon niya," the Iloilo solon said.

(We have here Senator Bong Bo, he has made the decision. He is not with Alyansa, instead she's campaigning with the former president. So he knows what direction is.)

"Kay Senator Imee Marcos, parang abante, atras. Dito ba sa kaliwa, dito ba sa kanan, saan ba ako? (As for Senator Imee Marcos, it's like she's going forward, backward. Am I going left, am I going right, where do I go?) Right? Left? East, North [and] West? South?" Garin said.

"Pag ganun kasi ang direksiyon ikaw mismo malilito sa iyong kampanya. Ikaw mismo malilito sa iyong direksiyon (If that is your direction, you yourself will get confused by your campaign. You yourself will be confused by your direction), Garin added.

Senator Marcos sort of proved Garin's point Thursday, March 20 when the former led a Senate hearing to question the International Police's (Interpol) arrest of the 79-year-old Duterte in Manila on the order of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Duterte, who is facing a charge of crimes against humanity before the ICC, is arguably President Marcos' top critic.

On the campaign trail so far, the presidential sister's attedance to the campaign rallies--which are top-billed by President Marcos--have been a toss-up at best.

"I believe it’s time for the senator (Marcos) to really decide. Kasi kung ano man ang tatahakin niya, people will respect and believe in you more if you take one stand. Para makatutok na talaga siya kung saan yung direksiyon ng kanyang kampanya," Garin said.

(Whatever path she takes, people will respect and believe in you more if you take one stand. This will allow her to focus on the direction of her campaign.)
