Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro disclosed in a Palace briefing on Thursday, March 20, that the President and the Solicitor General have already talked after the latter's recusal from the Duterte cases.

"Opo nagkausap po sila at nakausap ko rin po ang Pangulo patungkol diyan at sinasabi niya po na hindi naman nawawala ang kanyang tiwala kay SolGen Menardo Guevarra (Yes, they have already talked and I was also able to talk to the President about that and he said that he still trusts SolGen Menardo Guevarra)," Castro said.

While the Palace official did not elaborate further, she also bared that the President was not asking for Guevarra's resignation.

"Yun lang po kasi ang aking narinig mula sa Pangulo kaya hindi ko madadagdagan. Sinabi lamang po niya na hindi naman niya pinagre-resign (That's all I heard from the President, I cannot add more to that. What he only said was he was not asking for Guevarra's resignation either)," Castro said.

After his recusal, Guevarra stated that he leaves it to the discretion of Marcos to relieve him from his post at the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG).

The issue on Guevarra's resignation as solicitor general cropped up after he filed a manifestation to recuse him and his office from participating in the three habeas corpus petitions filed before the Supreme Court (SC) on the case of Duterte.
