Man yields P272-M shabu in Rizal buy-bust

Authorities seized around P272 million worth of shabu from a man during a buy-bust operation in Binangonan, Rizal, on Wednesday, March 19.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the suspect as “Ronald,” who was arrested in Rizal Cement Village, Barangay Pantok, by joint operatives from PDEA Intelligence Service, PDEA Regional Office-NCR Regional Special Enforcement Team 2, PDEA Regional Office IV-A Rizal Provincial Office, and the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Unit (PNP-PDEU) Rizal.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani R. Nerez said authorities seized around 40 kilograms of suspected shabu packed in 40 black gold foil wrappers.

The suspect will face charges for violating Section 5 (Sale of Illegal Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Illegal Drugs) under Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Nerez vowed to carry out more operations to disrupt the illegal drug supply chain.

"Operation of this magnitude dealt a major blow to the supply chain of illegal drugs in the streets. There are more to come,” he said.
