House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar continues to push for improved healthcare services as she spearheaded the inauguration of the new 12-storey Las Piñas General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center (LPGHSTC).
The expansion increases the hospital’s capacity to 500 beds, ensuring that more Filipinos receive quality medical care.
The hospital’s upgrade was made possible through Republic Act No. 11497, which Villar authored and championed in Congress. The law not only expanded the hospital’s capacity but also strengthened its medical services by increasing the number of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and support staff.
“Mahalaga ang pagkakaroon ng maayos at fully-equipped na mga ospital at medical facilities na accessible para sa ating mga kababayan na may sakit,” Villar said, highlighting the importance of accessible and fully equipped hospitals, especially for underserved communities.
She stressed that the government has a duty to provide high-quality healthcare services to every Filipino family. “Responsibilidad ng pamahalaan ang pagpapatupad ng kalidad na mga health programs na tumutugon at magsisiguro ng kalusugan ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino,” she added.
LPGHSTC Medical Director Dr. Ignacia Guia Fajardo expressed deep appreciation for Villar’s leadership, acknowledging her unwavering commitment to securing the necessary funding for the hospital’s expansion. She also recognized the efforts of Villar’s mother and brother—Senators Cynthia and Mark Villar—in supporting the initiative.
Villar, who is running for senator, has long been a champion of social programs that address the needs of ordinary Filipinos. She has vowed to bring fresh perspectives to the Senate, focusing on innovative policies to improve healthcare, education, housing, women’s rights, and business opportunities.
The expansion of LPGHSTC stands as a testament to Villar’s dedication to public service, reinforcing her advocacy for better healthcare and her commitment to making a lasting impact on the lives of Filipino families.
