For House Speaker Martin Romualdez, the country's continued growth is made possible by the irreplaceable contributions of women to society.

Romualdez, leader of the 300-plus strong House of Representatives and president of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) had this to say in celebration of Women's Month this March.

“Sa bawat yugto ng ating kasaysayan, hindi matatawaran ang ambag ng kababaihan. Mula sa tahanan hanggang sa larangan ng ekonomiya, edukasyon, politika, at serbisyo publiko, sila ang nagbibigay-lakas at malasakit sa ating lipunan. Ang kanilang talino, sipag, at determinasyon ay pundasyon ng ating patuloy na pag-unlad,” the Speaker said in his message on Sunday, March 2.

(In every chapter of history, the contributions of women cannot be undermined. From inside the home into the fields of economics, education, politics, and public service, they are the ones who give strength and compassion to our nation. Their intellect, industriousness, and determination are our foundation in our continued growth.)

“This Women’s Month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of Filipino women who continue to shape our nation. Whether as mothers, educators, workers, entrepreneurs, or leaders, their dedication is the backbone of our society,” Romualdez said.

The House chief said that beyond recognition, Women’s Month serves as a call to action to dismantle barriers and create more opportunities for women across all sectors.

“But this celebration goes beyond recognition—it is a call to action. We must continue breaking barriers, ensuring equal opportunities, and empowering women in every sector,” he pointed out.

“The House of Representatives remains committed to enacting laws that protect women’s rights, eliminate discrimination and violence, and promote their leadership in governance and nation-building,” added the Leyte 1st district congressman.

While acknowledging progress in advancing women’s rights, Romualdez said that more must be done to ensure every woman has the freedom to achieve her full potential.

“We will not stop until every woman has the freedom to dream, achieve, and succeed without limits,” Romualdez said.

He ended his message by stating that empowering women strengthens families, communities, and the nation as a whole.

“Because when we empower women, we uplift families, strengthen communities, and secure a better future for all. Mabuhay ang kababaihang Pilipino! (Long live Filipino women!) Happy Women’s Month!” Romualdez said.
