The Department of Tourism (DOT) and the local government of Santiago City have launched the construction of the Dariuk Hills Eco-Tourism Center, which promises to enhance tourism while preserving the area’s natural and cultural heritage.
DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco, who led the groundbreaking ceremony alongside Santiago City Mayor Alyssa Tan, lauded the project as a vital step in promoting sustainable tourism and inclusive development.
“This initiative exemplifies the shared vision of the Marcos administration to ensure that no destination is left behind,” Frasco said.
Envisioned as a hub for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and cultural enthusiasts, the eco-tourism center is expected to enhance Santiago City’s appeal while generating livelihood opportunities for local communities.
The project will integrate the city’s scenic landscapes with its indigenous heritage, positioning it as a model for responsible tourism.
Tan expressed gratitude to the DOT for its support, emphasizing the center’s role in preserving Santiago City’s cultural identity and attracting both local and international visitors.
Legislators from Isabela’s 4th and 6th districts also backed the project, highlighting its potential to spur economic growth and strengthen the province’s tourism industry.
