Cops net 126 wanted persons in Region 2


CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Police Regional Office-2 arrested 126 wanted persons in the Cagayan Valley region from Feb. 20 to 26.

Police Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr., PRO-2 chief, said the apprehension of 23 most wanted persons and 103 wanted persons showed their steadfast dedication to upholding peace and order in Region 2.

Nineteen suspected drug pushers were arrested and face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and seized from them were 29.8 grams of shabu and 10 grams of marijuana valued at a total of P204,200.

Fourteen persons were caught for illegal gambling. 

Seven individuals were nabbed for illegal possession of firearms and recovered from them were eight firearms. Twenty-seven firearms and four explosives were surrendered.

Four individuals were arrested for illegal logging. They yielded 1,325 board feet of lumber valued at P57,113.

Six communist rebels surrendered and nine supporters were apprehended. Eleven individuals were also arrested for other violations.

Marallag commended lawmen for successful operations.

“Let’s continue to strengthen our police operations by making sure that we, the primary agency charged with law enforcement and implementation, are the ones who uphold the law. Let us do everything we can to overcome the challenges and to maintain peace and order guided by the police operational procedures here in Region 2," he said.
