Carabao gores laborer to death in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY – A 19-year-old laborer was allegedly gored to death by a carabao in Sitio Sapa, Hacienda Casal-agan Dako, Barangay DSB, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on Saturday, March 1.

Police Capt. Darryl Kuhutan, Pontevedra police chief, identified the victim as Rensky, a resident of Barangay DSB.

Kuhutan said that the victim left his house to feed their carabao in a vacant rice field on Saturday afternoon, March 1.

Renksy’s family looked for him after he failed to return home Saturday night.

He was located by his family in a rice field with multiple injuries before dawn on Sunday, March 2. The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Kuhutan said they noticed a male carabao roaming around the area with a detached rope and visible bloodstains on its horns, left ear, and rope on its nose. But the animal was not the carabao involved.

He said that the victim’s family and the owner of the carabao that allegedly attacked Rensky are set to meet to discuss the incident.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
