ZAMBOANGA CITY – Candidates participated in a unity walk and signed a solidarity pact on March 19 for a peaceful elections in May.

A UNITY walk for a peaceful elections was held in Zamboanga City on March 19.
The activity was spearheaded by the Police Regional Office-9 and Zamboanga City Police Office and participated in by Joint Task Force Zamboanga and other concerned sectors.
Candidates and other participants gathered at P. Lorenzo St. and walked toward Paseo del Mar where they signed the peace covenant and solidarity pact.
Police Regional Office-9 Director Police Brig. Gen. Roel Rodolfo described the solidarity pact as a solemn and heartfelt promise to protect the democratic process with utmost vigilance and integrity.
Rodolfo assured the public that PRO-9 will be steadfast in its commitment to ensure that the elections are peaceful and orderly.
“We stand ready to respond actively to any security threat with unwavering determination,” Rodolfo said.
Atty. Christian Babiera, Comelec district election officer, thanked the PRO-9 for initiating the timely and significant event as the campaign period for local election is fast approaching.
He thanked candidates who signed the solidarity pact and attended the activity as part of their commitment for a peaceful election.
Babiera urged all candidates to abide by election rules. “I am reminding you to engage only in lawful election propaganda,” Babiera said.
