Sputnik Gang member nabbed for stealing gadgets in Sampaloc, Manila


A 22-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, March 19, for robbing an apartment unit and carting away electronic gadgets in Sampaloc, Manila, on Thursday, March 20.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspect as Ralph Barroga, also known as "Kakay."

According to the police, Barroga entered the unit along Dos Castillas Street in the afternoon of March 18.

Police said the suspect went through the window of the apartment unit around 2 p.m. while the victim was at work. 

After stealing cash and gadgets, the suspect exited the apartment through the main door.

When Hadjizaman returned home at approximately 4 p.m. he discovered the theft. 

He immediately reviewed the building’s closed circuit television (CCTV) footage and upon confirming the break-in, reported the incident to the Lacson Police Community Precinct (PCP). 

The investigation led to a follow-up operation, and at around 4 a.m. on March 19, the suspect was arrested.

During his arrest, Barroga was found in possession of several stolen items, including a laptop worth P60,000, a smartwatch worth P27,000, and two cell phones worth P35,000.

The total value of the recovered items amounted to P152,000. 

However, he had not returned the P30,000 cash that was also taken from the unit.

Based on the investigation, the suspect is a member of the Sputnik Gang.

He is now being held at the MPD Sampaloc Station and will face charges for Robbery in an Inhabited Place under Article 299 of the Revised Penal Code.
