Prime Video renews 'House of David' for season 2

Prime Video announced that it has renewed the biblical drama series “House of David” for a second season.

Season 1 of “House of David” premiered on Prime Video last Feb 25 with three episodes in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

It amassed 22 million viewers in the first 17 days and is in the top 10 new series debuts in the US to date.

"House of David" (Prime Video)

New episodes will be released weekly, leading up to the finale on April 3. The series comes from Wonder Project creative leaders Jon Erwin (“Jesus Revolution,” “American Underdog”) and Jon Gunn (“Ordinary Angels”), who are returning as directors, writers, and executive producers.

Michael Iskander will reprise his role as David.

“House of David” tells the story of the ascent of the biblical figure, David, who eventually becomes the most renowned and celebrated king of Israel.

It follows the once-mighty King Saul as he falls victim to his own pride. At the direction of God, the prophet Samuel anoints an unlikely, outcast teenager as the new king. As Saul loses his power over his kingdom, David finds himself on a journey to discover and fulfill his destiny, navigating love, loss, and violence in the court of the very man he’s destined to replace. As one leader falls, another must rise.

Season 2 will follow the aftermath of the battle between David and Goliath and David's rise to the throne. As he navigates palace politics, his family’s jealousy, and a growing romance, David steps deeper into his destiny and learns what it means to become a great leader.

Also reprising their roles in Season 2 are Ali Suliman as King Saul; Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam, Saul’s trusted wife; Stephen Lang as Samuel; Indy Lewis as Mychal; and Yali Topol Margalith as Mirab, Saul’s daughters; Ethan Kai as Jonathan, son and heir apparent; Sam Otto as Eshbaal, the irreverent middle child; Oded Fehr as Abner, Saul’s advisor; Louis Ferreira as Jesse, David’s father; Davood Ghadami as Eliab, David’s eldest brother and decorated warrior in King Saul’s army; Ashraf Barhom, a mysterious Edomite; and Alexander Uloom who plays King Achish.

In association with Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios, “House of David” is produced by Nomadic Pictures and Argonauts, along with Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate Television.
