NLEX announces emergency closure of northbound Marilao bridge


The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation announced the emergency temporary closure of the two northbound lanes of the Marilao, Bulacan Interchange Bridge on Wednesday, March 19, following a road crash incident involving two trucks.

According to an advisory posted on Facebook, middle lanes 2 and 3 of the Marilao Interchange Bridge Northbound are temporarily closed due to structural damage from the impact.

 

Patrol teams onsite reported that traffic from the NLEX Harbor Link Interchange Bridge to Marilao Northbound was moving at 10 to 15 km/h.

 

Motorists from EDSA going to Bulacan and Pampanga are advised to exit at Karuhatan, Paso de Blas NB, or Meycauayan NB, take MacArthur Highway, and re-enter at NLEX CDV Northbound or NLEX Bocaue Interchange Northbound.

 

Those traveling from Bulacan and Pampanga to Manila should exit at Bocaue Southbound Interchange or CDV Southbound, turn right to MacArthur Highway, and re-enter at NLEX Meycauayan Southbound.

 

For Tambubong, Bocaue to Marilao Southbound, the leftmost lane is being used as a zipper lane for northbound traffic at a running speed of 20 km/h.

 

Only Class 1 vehicles (cars and light vehicles) are allowed on the Marilao Interchange Bridge, while Class 2 and 3 vehicles (buses and trucks) are temporarily prohibited.

 

A stop-and-go scheme is currently in effect to manage traffic flow.

 

Motorists are advised to expect delays and plan alternative routes accordingly.
