This season, the 5-foot-9 guard powered the JCA Warriors to the PCYAA finals for only the third time in school program history as his team went into the titular series with an immaculate 8-0 record, 7-0 in the eight-school elimination round and a resounding victory over Philippine Cultural College during the semifinals.

With season averages of  18.1 points,  5 steals, 4.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists an outing, the mild-mannered Uy romped away with the first-ever MVP  medal in PCYAA history.

Along the way, he was voted a member of the league’s Mythical Five.

In the first game of the best-of-three title-series opener and MGC-NLCA, the multi-faceted Uy, whose favorite NBA player is Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks, chalked up 24 points, including three  triples, five assists, three rebounds and two steals in 38:44 minutes of action.

Unfortunately, Jubilee Christian Academy was unable to hold on to an eight-point lead in the final quarter and lost in double-overtime, 76-74, to the MGC-NLCA New Lifers for its first setback of the season.

Uy and the Warriors seek to bounce when Game Two of the finals is held on Saturday and force a deciding third game.

Unknown  a fact to many, Uy is the only player in Philippine cage history to hold this unprecedented distinction:  He registered a quadruple-double of 28 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals on his 12th birthday – October 27 (2019) – against ironically, MGC-NLCA, in a 77-65 victory in the PCYAA Developmental Division in Season 9.

Two months before all sports competitions were cancelled with the onset of the COVID pandemic, Karl helped Jubilee Christian Academy to a 10-0 overall and its first and only PCYAA Developmental crown.

Karl, whose overall game has been nourished under the individualized tutorship of coaches Ryan Dy and Jake de Guia, has been hooping in various competitions such the Milcu Got Skills, Skilled Hoops and the Chachago Invitational Basketball League, since the pandemic ended.

As a 15-year-old, Uy emerged as the top scorer in the 16-U division of the Chacago tournament in 2023 with a 26.9-point average.

With a year left (2026) in his PCYAA eligibility, Uy, a Grade 11 stude, is expected to be a dominant force for Jubilee Christian Academy again next season.

But the best is yet to come for Uy.
