Female motor taxi passenger dies in Tondo road accident

A female passenger of a motorcycle taxi died on the spot following a road accident in Tondo, Manila, on Wednesday, March 19.

A 32-year-old female passenger of a motorcycle taxi died on the spot following a road accident in Tondo, Manila, on Wednesday, March 19.

According to the Manila Police District (MPD), the incident occurred along the northbound lane of Mel Lopez Boulevard when the motorcycle taxi, carrying the victim, collided with a dump truck.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the crash caused the motorcycle driver to lose control, resulting in both the driver and the female passenger being thrown off the vehicle.

Authorities stated that the female passenger sustained severe head injuries which led to her immediate death.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene but the woman was pronounced dead on the spot.

Police said the motorcycle and dump truck drivers are currently in the custody of the MPD as authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.

The names of those involved have not been released pending further investigation.
