DHSUD starts construction of condo-type mass housing for over 1,000 families in San Juan City

More than 1,000 informal settler families (ISFs) and low-income earners will soon have their decent homes after the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) forged an agreement with the San Juan City local government for the construction of a 30-storey residential building.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the condominium-type housing project will be located in Barangay Batis and will have 1,029 housing units, each measuring 25 square meters.

“The project shall also feature modern amenities, including a multipurpose area and other essential facilities,” said Acuzar.

He said the building is just one of the multiple housing projects proposed by the city government to DHSUD, adding that the start of the project is supported by the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) headed by Federico Laxa

“More than just another event or another project launch, this is a dream turning into reality. Today is not just about getting a house, but finally having a place to call home,” said Acuzar.

He assured that the DHSUD will continue collaborating with local governments and key shelter agencies (KSAs) to ensure the timely delivery of quality homes.

SHFC, one of DHSUD’s KSAs, is spearheading the project in a 2,577 sqm lot area secured by the local government.

Laxa assured the potential beneficiaries that they will fast-track the construction as part of the agency’s commitment to swift project completion.

“The development will be fully equipped with key amenities and will ensure a better and more secure future for its beneficiaries,” said Laxa.
