Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan is urging dog owners in the city to take advantage of the free anti-rabies vaccination being offered by the local government.

The mayor announced that the Manila Health Department (MHD), led by Dr. Arnold Pangan, is conducting the vaccination program for pets at the Manila City Hall.

This initiative is also part of the free vaccination services provided during the regular “Kalinga sa Maynila” program, where the city goes to various barangays, allowing residents to bring their pets for vaccination.

The mayor also highlighted that the city offers free animal bite treatments, including eight different kinds of care, available at the Manila City Hall-Animal Bite Clinic and Sta. Ana Hospital under Director Dr. Grace Padilla, and seven other health centers managed by the MHD.

The program, she said, is aimed at ensuring safety not just for pets, but also for the community.

As a doctor, the local chief executive reminded pet owners of the dangers of rabies, which can be transmitted from animals to humans and can be fatal.

She stressed that vaccinated pets are healthier, more active, and better protected.

Lacuna-Pangan also called for increased awareness about the risks of rabies, especially for those who may be bitten by unvaccinated animals.

She encouraged residents to take part in the city’s efforts to ensure that all pets are vaccinated to contribute to a safer and healthier community.
