Aklan governor seeks justice for Slovakian tourist

ILOILO CITY — Aklan Gov. Jose Enrique “Joen” Miraflores broke his silence and called for justice for the Slovakian tourist found dead in world-famous Boracay Island.

“Ginakasubo ag ginakondena gid naton ro natabo kay Michaela Mickova ag nagasinggit kita tanan kapin pa kitang mga Akeanon it hustisya para sa biktima ag sa anang bilog nga pamilya (We are saddened and we condemn what happened to Michaela Mickova and we Aklanons want justice for the victim and her family),” said Miraflores in a statement.

Miraflores visited the crime scene this week.

“Ubrahon naton ro tanan agud eagi nga mataw-an it hustisya rondayang insidente (We will do everything to gain justice from this crime),” assured Miraflores.

He joined various stakeholders, including the business community, in a prayer vigil in the abandoned chapel where the victim was found in Barangay Balabag.

Local officials, including the governor, have been criticized for their initial silence after the incident.

Miraflores assured people that Boracay remains a safe place.

He called for more stringent security measures to avoid another brutal incident.
