Scattered rains expected due to 'amihan', easterlies

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, March 18, said the northeast monsoon and easterlies will continue to be the country's dominant weather systems.

PAGASA said the northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon, while the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

The easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant as severe thunderstorms could trigger flash floods or landslides, especially in areas vulnerable to such hazards.
