Antipolo police nab thieves who posted sale of stolen bike online


Two motorcycle thieves were arrested after the owner found the stolen vehicle being sold online in Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo City, authorities said on Monday, March 17.

The Antipolo Component City Police identified the suspects as "Jay," 32, and "Jojo," 48.

According to the victim, he discovered that his motorcycle had been stolen by an unidentified suspect around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11.

He immediately tried to locate his vehicle and unexpectedly found it posted for sale on a social media platform.

The victim messaged the seller and pretended to be a buyer. The suspects then agreed to a meet-up in Pasig City.

After setting up the transaction, the victim immediately alerted the authorities, leading to an operation led by the Pasig City Police and resulted in the suspects' arrest.

They are currently detained at the Antipolo PNP custodial facility and are facing charges for violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 (R.A. 10883). (Vincent Brian Gutierrez)
