A protest rally was held on Monday, March 17, along Recto Avenue, where various militant groups gathered to voice their demands for justice and accountability for victims of extrajudicial killings (EJKs).

The rally was organized by several activist groups, including BAYAN MUNA, GABRIELA, KARAPATAN, MIGRANTE, AHW, KADAMAY, HUSTISYA, and HEAD.

Police said the protesters called for the imprisonment of former President Rodrigo Duterte, former Police Chief Oscar Albayalde, and Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, citing their alleged involvement in human rights abuses.

The group also demanded that the Philippines rejoin the International Criminal Court (ICC) and end the culture of impunity in the country.

Meanwhile, personnel from the Manila Police District stationed at the site to monitor the rally.

They also blocked the demonstration, preventing the group from proceeding with their planned activities in Mendiola.

The protesters remained resolute in their calls for justice, chanting slogans such as “Itigil ang pamamaslang, katatungan ipaglaban” (Stop the killings, fight for justice).
