“We have been made aware of the widespread sharing of sensitive photos and videos taken at the crime scene,” said the Malay Municipal Police Station (MPS).

The body of the 23-year-old Michaela Mickova was discovered half-naked in an abandoned chapel in a resort in Barangay Balabag on March 12.

“We would like to warn everyone that irresponsible spreading of private and sensitive content is against the law,” the Malay MPS said.

Police cited Section 3 of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and Article 287 of the Revised Penal Code.

“We urge those who have shared these materials to delete them immediately or face legal consequences,” the Malay MPS said.

Police  reminded netizens to respect privacy and stop adding more challenges to the ongoing investigation.

“Spreading sensitive information aggravates the sufferings of the victim's loved ones and could compromise the investigation. Let us work together to respect the victim's privacy and support the police efforts to bring justice,” Malay MPS added.
