PITX projected to hit 200 million passengers by mid-2025

Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), the intermodal transport hub linking Metro Manila and Southern Luzon, is projected to have 200 million passengers in the second quarter of 2025.

Since its opening in 2018, PITX has seen consistent growth in passenger traffic fueled by new routes, improvement of facilities, and strengthened partnerships with transport operators.

As of December last year, it logged nearly 180 million passengers and over five million vehicle departures from various modes of transportation.

“The consistent rise in daily foot traffic since our opening in 2018 highlights the increasing reliance of commuters on PITX as a safe, seamless, and convenient transport hub,” said PITX President Jaime Raphael Feliciano in a statement.

PITX serves as terminal for 105 destinations for in-city and provincial buses, as well as modern and traditional jeepneys and transport network vehicle services (TNVS).

The transport terminal introduced six new routes in Luzon and two more to Visayas in 2024, as part of its ongoing effort to enhance nationwide connectivity.

It has also seen further integration with the opening of the Asia World station of Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1), contributing over 20,000 passengers daily.

Feliciano said the transport hub is ready to undergo several improvements this year to meet the growing demand of the public for commuting.

Early this year, it was announced that Megawide Construction Corp. was tapped to build the ₱1.87-billion Cavite bus rapid transit (BRT) project.

This facility will provide a point-to-point access to key destinations in the capital region via PITX, which is operated by Megawide’s subsidiary MWM Terminals Inc.

“Our long-term strategy is to solidify PITX as the gold standard for landports in the Philippines by expanding its intermodal capabilities, integrating emerging transport systems like the Cavite BRT, and enhancing nationwide connectivity through strategic infrastructure investments,” said Feliciano.

“By doing so, we are not just improving commuter mobility—we are actively shaping the future of the country’s transportation network,” he added.

Feliciano noted that commuters can expect to see more intermodal transport solutions in PITX, with its commitment to making travel more accessible and efficient for Filipinos.
