4 DI members killed in Maguindanao del Norte clash

Soldiers killed four members of the Dawlah Islamiyah-Hasan Group in an encounter in Barira, Maguindanao del Norte on Monday morning, March 17.

The 6th Marine Company of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 2, along with the 65th Force Reconnaissance Company and Force Reconnaissance Group, were patrolling Sitio Palao, Barangay Barira when they encountered the group led by alias Alpha King.

A five-minute encounter erupted where four DI members were killed. No casualties were reported on the government side.

The military said three of the fatalities have been identified and their bodies have been claimed by relatives.

Lt. Col. Roden Orbon, spokesperson of the 6th Infantry Division, said war materials were recovered.

Soldiers are conducting clearing operations and preparing for possible retaliatory attacks.
