Marcoleta gets backing of Miriam Defensor-Santiago-founded People’s Reform Party

The People’s Reform Party (PRP)--the political party founded by the late senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago--has endorsed the senatorial bid of SAGIP Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta in the upcoming mid-term polls.
Based on details shared by Marcoleta on his Facebook, the endorsement was made official last March 10 at the PRP headquarters in Quezon City.
The event was led by lawyer Narciso “Jun” Santiago Jr., widower of the lady senator and president of PRP.
The party president says he believes Marcoleta will continue senator Santiago's credo of fighting corruption in the country.
Marcoleta, a former deputy speaker in the House of Representatives, is gunning for a Senate seat under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) slate.
PDP-Laban is chaired by former Rodrigo Duterte.
Senator Santiago was a Filipino scholar, academic, lawyer, judge, author, and stateswoman who served in all three branches of the Philippine government: judicial, executive, and legislative. She passed away at the age of 71 on Sept. 29, 2016.
