"Hello, Barbie!"

For Filipino beauty enthusiasts, this iconic greeting took on a whole new meaning as Barbie unveiled its historic collaboration with local makeup brand, Lovely Causemetics, a limited-edition collection that's as empowering as it is glamorous. This momentous partnership marks Barbie's first-ever venture with a Filipino makeup brand, a milestone celebrated with a blend of sparkle and social responsibility.

Barbie herself announced the exciting news via social media, declaring, "PSA: Barbie’s first-ever cosmetic collaboration with a local Filipino makeup brand is finally here! Just in time for Women’s Month! We wanted to create a collection that celebrates beauty, empowerment, and self-expression because you deserve to feel confident in your own skin. Part of the proceeds from this collection will go to communities that support women’s education and research projects, helping them build a brighter future!"

The collection's official launch on March 15, 2025, was a testament to the power of dreams, as Lovely Geniston, CEO of Lovely Causemetics, shared her journey with Manila Bulletin Lifestyle.

"Last year I received an email from Mattel [the toy company behind Barbie], I will never forget that day, May 2, 2024 for a possible collaboration. At first I was a bit skeptical. Why me? I am just a small brand," she recalled. "It only got real when they invited me to their office here in the Philippines. Then we signed the contract on the 27th."

Lovely openly shared the creative challenges of merging Lovely Causemetics' minimalist aesthetic with Barbie's vibrant, iconic style. "The creative process was challenging—how to blend these two brands together. Then we came up with pink and silver colors," she explained, highlighting the delicate balance achieved in the collection's design.

The Barbie x Lovely Causemetics collection has three distinct product lines, each designed to enhance natural beauty with a touch of Barbie magic. The Glass Glow Pressed Highlighter & Powder Blush offers radiance with its ultra-fine texture, available in Sparkle Queen (hot pink blush and icy white highlighter) and Pop Culture (hot pink blush and soft gold highlighter).

The Soft Glow Cream Blush, a versatile cream formula, delivers a natural flush to cheeks, lips, and lids, available in five universally flattering shades.

Lastly, the Water Glowy Tint, a high-shine lip tint, provides long-lasting hydration and a vibrant stain, featuring a unique metal applicator and six warm-toned shades.

"This collection has our signature blurring effect, after all, our best-selling products include blurring concealer and blurring illuminator. For the blush and glowy tint, these have a blurring effect. And to make sure that skin will be taken good care of, this is formulated with vitamin E," Lovely emphasized, emphasizing the collection's commitment to both beauty and skincare.

Beyond the glamour, the Barbie x Lovely Causemetics collaboration is deeply rooted in philanthropy. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the UP Center for Women’s Studies Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization affiliated with the University of the Philippines Center for Women’s and Gender Studies (UPCWGS) in Diliman, Quezon City, supporting women's education and research initiatives.

The highly anticipated Barbie x Lovely Causemetics collection is readily available for purchase on TikTok, Shopee, Lazada, and the official Lovely Causemetics website, inviting beauty lovers to embrace their inner Barbie while contributing to a brighter future for women.
