ILOILO CITY – Iloilo Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr.  has expressed concern over the widespread disinformation and misinformation after the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte for alleged crimes against humanity.

“Mag-andam lang kita (We should be cautious),” urged Defensor.

Defensor, who is not a social media user, said he is aware that many Filipinos have fallen victims to fake news, especially on Facebook.

“Be careful of what you read, what you watch and what you listen to,” said Defensor.

He said Filipinos must be responsible in counter-checking news.

Defensor said that unlike reports from traditional media, information being disseminated on social media platforms are not accountable and free to spread false information.

One viral video allegedly showed a pro-Duterte rally. But the aerial video was actually taken during the 2025 Dinagyang Festival at Megaworld’s Iloilo Business Park in Iloilo City last January.
