After posting its worst start in almost two decades at 1-2, De La Salle seemed to have finally regained its old form by finishing the first round of the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball with a four-game winning streak.

Its last victory -- a 25-17, 25-20, 25-22 decision over Far Eastern University on Saturday, March 15 -- finally gave Lady Spikers’ long-time coach Ramil De Jesus something to smile about as it put them at solo third with a 5-2 win-loss record.

De Jesus hopes they could sustain this in the next round.

Shevana Laput carried the scoring cudgels for the Lady Spikers with 22 points -- a fitting follow-up from her career-high 25 points against Ateneo -- whie Alleiah Malaluan and Angel Canino chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively.

“Happy ako kasi kahit na hindi gaano halos nakapagpahinga and wala kaming time na nakapag-ready sa FEU, so at least ‘yong short time na ‘yon nagawa nila ‘yong game plan namin,” De Jesus said.
