After collision, PNR to resume Legazpi-Naga route on Sunday

The Philippine National Railways (PNR) will resume train services of its Naga to Legazpi route on Sunday, March 16, a day after a fuel tanker collided with its inspection train.

In an advisory, PNR said the Legazpi-Naga route will be operational starting at 4:49 a.m., while Naga-Legazpi will open at 5:30 p.m.

“The Legazpi to Naga route and vice versa must be opened immediately due to its connectivity demand,” it said.

The railway operator said its inspection train derailed at 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, while clearing tracks for obstruction at Paloyon crossing in Nabua, Camarines Sur. The train has since been placed back on the tracks.

The driver of the fuel tanker truck was brought to Bicol Medical Center for treatment and is currently in stable condition.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.

PNR urges motorists and even pedestrians to practice the “Stop, Look, and Listen” safety principle to avoid such incidents in the future.

It noted that traffic along the affected area is now normal after the rerouting scheme.
