Police apprehend 5 robbers in Camarines Norte

BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested in Santa Elena, Camarines Norte, on Tuesday, March 11, five individuals who allegedly robbed a computer and gadget shop in Claver, Surigao del Norte.

Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office Director Police Col. Warren E. Dablo said the suspects were a 37-year-old female from Subic, Zambales; a 24, 22, and 21-year-old male from Baliuag, Bulacan; and a 45-year-old male from Subic.

Dablo said they mounted a pursuit operation after the incident on March 7 and followed the suspects who fled onboard a green Honda CRV.

The suspects entered Region 8 and Region 5, and lawmen apprehended them while resting in a gasoline station in Santa Elena.

Recovered from the suspects were 10 laptops, six mobile phones, tablet, a laptop bag, chargers, internet router, numeric keypad phone, a USB hub port, and police uniforms.

PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said combined police forces actively pursued the suspects on their way back to their hideout in Zambales. 

“After learning the robbery incident in Claver town, Surigao del Norte province on Friday, March 7, PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Christopher N. Abrahano immediately ordered massive pursuit operation against the fleeing robbery gang,”  Ometer said.

The suspects were taken to the Santa Elena MPS for documentation and underwent medical examination at the Santa Elena District Hospital.

Ometer said further coordination with Surigao del Norte PPO is underway for the proper turnover of the suspects and stolen items. 

One of the suspects, the man from Subic, was confirmed to have a warrant of arrest for carnapping after verification with the e-Warrant System.

"This successful operation highlights the strong coordination between police units across different regions and provinces in tracking down criminals and bringing them to justice,” Dablo said.

The Surigao del Norte PPO remains committed to maintaining peace and order, ensuring that criminal elements will find no safe haven anywhere in the country, Dablo added.  

Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office-11 said 138 wanted persons were apprehended in Southern Mindanao from March 3 to 9.

PRO-11 Director Police Brig Gen. Leon Victor Z. Rosete said 24 suspects were among the Top 10 priority targets on the regional, provincial, municipal, city, and station levels.

Rosete said 50 were most wanted persons and 64 were other wanted persons.

He said their arrest demonstrates their unwavering commitment to enforcing the law and upholding justice, bringing fugitives – especially high-level criminals – to face the consequences of their actions.
