Couple caught with P2.7-M shabu in Iloilo drug sting


ILOILO CITY – Police arrested a couple and seized suspected shabu valued at P2.7 million in a buy-bust operation in Pavia town, Iloilo province on Thursday, March 13.

The suspects were identified as Cyril and his wife MJ.

The couple was apprehended after they sold shabu worth P15,000 to a police poseur-buyer.

The suspects who yielded a total of 400 grams of shabu were nabbed by the Pavia Municipal Police Station-Station Drug Enforcement Team led by Police Lt. Brett Balopiños.

Police placed the suspects under surveillance for two weeks before they were arrested.

The couple allegedly received their supply from neighboring Iloilo City and distributed the contraband in Pavia and neighboring towns.

The Pavia MPS-SDET was backed in the operation by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (IPPO-PDEU) and the Iloilo Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA) of the Regional Maritime Unit. 

“I commend the outstanding efforts of the operating team in apprehending these high-profile drug offenders,” said IPPO Director Police Col. Bayani Razalan in a statement on Friday, March 14.
