Romualdez, House mourn passing of Edno Joson

Speaker Martin Romualdez and the rest of the House of Representatives joined Novo Ecijanos in mourning the passing of their former governor and congressman, Eduardo Nonato “Edno” Joson.

Romualdez, the leader of the 306-strong House, described his late colleague in the 14th Congress as “a statesman whose dedication to public service left a very strong impact on Nueva Ecija and the nation".

“His loss is deeply felt by those who had the privilege of working with him and by the many lives he touched through his years of service,” the Speaker said in a statement on Thursday night.

Romualdez said Joson, as a member of the House, “was an avid advocate for the welfare of his constituents, dedicating his stay at the august chamber to crafting policies that promoted agricultural development, rural progress and economic resilience".

“His voice in Congress was one of reason and action, always pushing for measures that ensured the prosperity of Nueva Ecija and the upliftment of the Filipino people,” he added.

Aside from serving as governor and congressman of his province, Joson was at one time administrator of ‘demonstrated the same commitment to governance and public service that defined his career.’

‘His leadership was always guided by a deep sense of duty, putting the needs of the people at the forefront of his efforts,” Romualdez said.

The Leyte 1st district congressman and Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) president said the House joins the people of Nueva Ecija in honoring Joson’s legacy. 

“His work in Congress and beyond will continue to serve as an inspiration to lawmakers and public servants who strive to make a meaningful difference. May Gov. Joson be remembered for his service and passion in public service, and may he rest in eternal peace,” Romualdez said.
