The Department of Tourism (DOT) has inaugurated a Tourist Rest Area (TRA) and introduced the country’s first Klook Kiosk in Camarines Sur to enhance tourism infrastructure and provide better services for visitors.

DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco led the ceremony alongside Camarines Sur 4th District Representative Arnulf Bryan Fuentebella, San Jose Mayor Jerold Peña, Klook Philippines General Manager Michelle Ho, and Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) Assistant Chief Operating Officer Gregory Oller.

Frasco said the TRA offers essential amenities such as an information lounge, charging stations, shower rooms, toilets, first aid supplies, a rainwater harvesting system, and a pasalubong center showcasing local products.

“The Tourist Rest Area program is born out of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s vision to elevate the Philippine tourism experience and create more economic opportunities for our people,” she said.

With over 90 TRAs set for construction nationwide, the DOT continues to expand tourism facilities to ensure comfort and convenience for both local and international visitors.

Frasco also highlighted the significance of the country’s first Klook Kiosk, which provides tourists with a seamless booking experience and access to exclusive travel deals.

“This partnership with Klook is something we are grateful for, as we hope it will contribute to the local economy of San Jose and Camarines Sur,” she said.

Ho described the TRA as more than just a resting place but a “gateway for tourists to explore and experience the region’s unique attractions.”

The DOT and Klook formalized their partnership in January to integrate Philippine Experience Program (PEP) tours, including those in the Bicol Region, into the platform.

Peña welcomed the new tourism initiatives, citing their potential to boost local tourism, while Fuentebella lauded the DOT’s efforts to advance tourism development and expressed optimism for more projects that will benefit the region.
