Man arrested after assaulting 2-year-old son in Tondo

A man was arrested after allegedly beating up his two-year-old child in Tondo, Manila.

Police said the incident was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) and quickly went viral on social media, causing concern among netizens.

The CCTV footage from Barangay 4 shows the father repeatedly slapping the child he was carrying.

When they reached a tricycle terminal in front of Plaza Hernandez, the father was seen throwing the child into the tricycle.

Authorities arrested the suspect in a follow-up operation. He is facing child abuse charges.

Police disclosed that the father and his wife had been having marital problems, and the father turned his ire on his child.

The victim is currently recovering from facial bruises, and the father remains in police custody as he awaits the legal proceedings.

This incident serves as a reminder that any form of violence against children is unacceptable, and authorities are committed to taking action to protect the rights of minors.
