
A 30-year-old man was beaten and tied to a post by residents of Barangay San Isidro, Antipolo, Rizal, after they caught him stealing a cellphone and numerous pieces of underwear early Thursday morning, March. 13.
The police identified the suspect as "Bai," who is known in the area as a notorious thief and a drug user.
Based on the police report, the residents spotted Bai entering a house after stealing a cellphone and underwear. They said two households were victimized by the suspect that morning.
According to his first victim, she saw the suspect being chased by her neighbors with her child's clothes and underwear with him.
His other victim, Lady Izza Joy Pesino, said she was woken up by the rustling sounds of Bai inside her house. She went out of her home after seeing him with a bladed weapon.
Bai attempted to escape from the enraged citizens, but he was still caught by them. He was then tied to a post.
Bai admitted to his crimes, adding that he thought the house that he entered was his friend's where he usually hangs out.
The suspect was turned over to the Antipolo Component City Police Station as charges are being readied to be filed against him.
