Solomon sizzles as NU dominates Adamson

The Lady Bulldogs flaunted their depth and chemistry throughout their match against the young Lady Falcons to remain unscathed in six games.

“Masaya ako na makaharap sila, and may mga time na mapapaisip ka talaga, hopefully maging successful ‘yong batch nila,” said NU head coach Sherwin Meneses.

“It was a great game, pero we’re eyeing parin sa improvement ng mga bata,” he added.

Veteran Alyssa Solomon fired 22 points on 15 kills, four blocks, and three aces while Vange Alinsug pumped in 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs.

Despite scoring only eight points, Bella Belen was stellar on the defensive end with 12 excellent digs and five excellent receptions while Lams Lamina also dazzled with 16 excellent sets on top of four points.

On the other hand, Frances Mordi and Shaina Nitura conspired for 26 points which all went down the drain as Adamson sustained its fourth straight loss against two wins.

Meanwhile in men’s action, National University recovered just in time and scored a reverse sweep over Adamson, 20-25, 17-25, 25-18, 25-19, 15-12, for its third straight win.

Buds Buddin starred for the Bulldogs with 22 points built on 17 attacks, three blocks, and two aces with four excellent digs and nine excellent receptions while Jade Disquitado, Leo Aringo, and Rwenzmel Tagubolos combined for 41 points.

Jude Aguilar exploded for the Falcons with 26 points off 24 kills and two aces while Mark Paulino and Mark Coguimbal added 19 and 12 points, respectively.

NU hiked its card to 5-1 at second while Adamson suffered its third consecutive defeat for a 1-5 slate.

In the La Salle-Ateneo duel, the Green Spikers shrugged off a sluggish opening set to turn back rival Blue Eagles, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22, and make it three in a row.

Noel Kampton went hot and fired 27 points on 23 attacks, three blocks, and one ace while Glen Ventura backed him up with 13 points as the Taft-based squad jumped to fourth with a 4-2 record.

Ken Batas, Jian Salarzan, and Amil Pacinio posted 22, 19 and 14, in a losing effort as Ateneo slid to fifth with a 3-3 mark.
