PH Embassy ensures welfare of ex-president Duterte in the Netherlands
The Philippine Embassy in The Hague assured that it has rendered consular assistance to former president Rodrigo Duterte, including his delegation composing of former executive secretary Salvador Medialdea.

“In view of the winter season in Europe, the Embassy prepared, procured and delivered winter clothing, change of clothes and care packages for the former President,” the Consular said in a statement on Thursday, March 13.
The same was given to his delegation and the plane’s crew members.
Duterte is now under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to face trial for crimes against humanity of murder in relation to his bloody war on drugs campaign.
The former chief executive’s chartered plane landed in Rotterdam, Netherlands at around 11:56 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12 (Manila time).
The embassy said it also discussed with the ICC officials and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials “on the need to closely attend to and monitor the medical and physical conditions of the former President.”
“Thereupon, on arrival, an ICC nurse, who is part of the reception party, conferred with the former President’s personal nurse on the medical condition and requirements,” the statement said.
“The ICC nurse has relayed the information received to the ICC Medical Doctor for the conduct of medical check-up on the former President on arrival at the ICC Detention Center,” it added.
Duterte was also given the names and contact numbers of embassy officials who can be reached by mobile phone for any consular assistance that he may need.
The Netherlands’ Immigration Authorities granted a two-day visa to those who escorted the former president to enable them to rest and recover for their return flight.
Medialdea, on the other hand, was issued a 15-day visa as counsel of the former president and has been granted permission to visit him on Thursday, March 13, at the ICC Detention Center in Scheveningen, The Hague.
