Barangay driver shot dead in Quezon

SARIAYA, Quezon â€“ The driver of Barangay Gibanga here was gunned down on Tuesday afternoon, March 11.

Police identified the victim as Mario Pantoja.

Investigation said Pantoja was parking a barangay patrol vehicle in front of the house of the barangay captain in Purok 7, Barangay Gibanga when an unidentified man appeared and shot him.

Pantoja died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds and the suspect fled.

Mauled to death

An unidentified man was mauled to death on Tuesday night in Barangay San Vicente, Binan, Laguna.

Investigation said that the victim was chasing a woman for no apparent reason after a hurling a bottle at her when two men on board a motorcycle and another man appeared.

They accosted the woman and the victim intervened and the suspects mauled him.

The victim was taken to the Ospital ng BiÃ±an by the BiÃ±an Emergency Rescue Unit where he was declared dead due to head injuries.

The four suspects face appropriate charges.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation on both cases.
