Taguig LGU signs accord with 3 apex hospitals

The Taguig City government signed a memorandum of agreement with three apex hospitals in Metro Manila where residents can go for specialized medical services.

Mayor Lani Cayetano led the signing of the agreement with representatives from the East Avenue Medical Center, Rizal Medical Center and Jose R. Reyes Memorial Center.

“Kasama ang mga sumusunod na Apex Hospitals ng rehiyon, ay pinirmahan po namin ang isang Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) na naglalayong mas mapalawak pa ang ating healthcare provider network, at mabigyan ang ating mga kababayan ng de-kalidad ngunit abot-kayang akses sa mga specialized hospital services: East Avenue Medical Center, Rizal Medical Center and Jose R. Reyes Memorial Center (Together with the following Apex Hospitals of the region, we signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that aims to further expand our healthcare provider network, and provide our countrymen with quality yet affordable access to specialized hospital services: East Avenue Medical Center, Rizal Medical Center and Jose R. Reyes Memorial Center),” the mayor posted on Facebook.

Cayetano said apex hospitals are facilities that can respond to any type of illness or disease.

In a 2020 administrative order, the Department of Health said an apex or end-referral hospital offers “specialized services as determined by DOH, which is contracted as a stand-alone facility by PhilHealth.”

Under the agreement, Taguig hospitals and health centers can refer patients if they need specialists not available in the city.
